SUPERSIZE ME!
Chow down on an adventure combo and follow the path of Anacondal enlightenment by cashing in on Forster’s irresistible right of passage.
Coastal running brimming with jaw-dropping scenery, paddle sunny-side-up on an expanse of stunning coastline, hoof it up the secret slopes and bulldoze white knuckle descents. When it comes to heart-thumping fun, Forster’s adventure haven’s got it in spades.
It’s time to come out of hibernation and polish the rust off your favourite outdoor activity to bag the big one. Update your hard core cred by taking on the two-day-triumph or share the sweet swell of success in a relay-team and make this a weekend less ordinary!
Day 1
Your adventure will begin with the 3km Stockland (team) run from event headquarters at Main Beach Forster. You’ll run along the coast before scrambling over an enormous sand dune at North One Mile Beach. Then it’s into the ocean for the 1.9km 2XU Ocean Swim that includes a 500m rock hop over the ‘Tanks’ before a final 500m swim to the main beach – this is adventure racing after all! You’ll then jump in your kayak and paddle south along the coast for the 17km Spirit Ocean Paddle to Seven Mile beach in the Booti Booti National Park before putting those legs to work on the 15km Continental mountain bike leg. You’ll ride around the edge of Wallis Lake before climbing Yaric Mountain then sweeping back down to Cellito Beach and Smiths Lake. The day’s final leg is the 11km Keen run which takes you around the edge of Smiths Lake before crossing the lake ‘adventure style’, climbing through the Myall Lake National Park and finishing at Neranie on the lake’s edge.
Day 2 (also Anaconda Half)
Today’s action starts at Seal Rocks, south of Forster, where you’ll line up in your wetsuit on Number One Beach. You’ll get your engine warmed up with the 1.9km 2XU Ocean swim around the headland and past spectacular rocky outcrops to Boat Beach where you’ll lace up your runners for the 16km Keen run. You’ll run toward the Sugar Loaf Lighthouse before crossing the coast’s best surf beaches and into the Myall Lake National Park, scrambling back over those sand dunes before darting through scrub and over hills. After arriving at the edge of Wallinghat National Park near Bungwahl, you’ll jump on your bike for a forest ride that will challenge both your climbing and descending skills. With the 30km of the Continental mountainbike leg in your legs, they’re sure to welcome the paddle that follows. From Wallis Lake, you’ll embark on the 13km Spirit Lake Paddle back to Tuncurry where your adventure will culminate with the 3km Great Lakes Bridge and Beach (team) run. You’ll pass over the famous Forster/Tuncurry bridge, up the break wall and along the beach to finish where it all started on Saturday morning – Main Beach Forster.
For those a little daunted by the two-day epic, why not get some friends together and compete in a relay team of two, three or four, racing in relay format. If you can’t manage the whole weekend, but still want a taste of adventure, why not try the Anaconda Half that follows day two’s entire course. Which ever option you choose, the Anaconda Adventure Race Forster will be a Great Lakes experience you will never forget.
