Located next door to the Visitor Information Centre, this small market focuses on native plants, vege seedlings, fruit & veg, great home made cakes and delicacies, crafts, jewellery & clothing. Plenty of parking available.  Market runs from 8.00am - 1.00pm.

The Blackhead Bazaar is a community market organised and operated by Hallidays Point Tidy Towns Committee. The Bazaar attracts a good mix of stalls selling arts & craft, flowers, bric-a-brac, clothes, fruit & veg, home cooked preserves, jams, pickles, cakes, biscuits, chocolates and gingerbread.  It is especially renown for its large number of plant stalls ranging from specialised palms sales to tube stock and local native plants.  Other attractions include buskers, bouncy castle & pony rides.  A BBQ breakfast runs all morning.   Market runs from 8:30am - 1.00pm.  (nb. markets  September to May only.)

The Rotary Motor Market will be held at the Aldi end of the carpark near Kmart Tyres at Stockland Forster. Bring your car, ute, boat, ride-on or anything that can be sold as ONE item.  This is a market for Big Boys Toys! Sellers $20 - Buyers free.  Market runs from 8am - 1.30pm

Your chance to experience a true-blue coastal market with a veritable array of stalls.  You'll find around 50 stallholders peddling handmade, homegrown and pre-loved wares to holiday makers and locals.  The market more than lives up to its mantra of "homemade, homegrown and home-baked" - with a diverse selection of handmade craft, jewellery, clothing, homewares and art works.  And once you're done browsing and buying why take a stroll down the main street for a morning coffee or brunch in one of the many cafes.  Market runs from 8.00am - 2.00pm

The Great Lakes - Great Produce group, consisting of food producers, restaurateurs, vegetable, fruit and herb growers and local people who are passionate about great food. Their aim is to promote fresh produce grown or made in the Great Lakes, and the neighbouring regions of Gloucester, Greater Taree and beyond. Some of the produce to be found include country style breads, cheeses, coffee, bottled preserves, native and rainforest plants, organically grown and bio-dynamically produced foods.  Market runs from 8.00am - 12noon.

Tea Gardens Village Markets is a new and vibrant market situated in the Village Square of the Myall Quays Shopping Village, in Tea Gardens.  With over 30 stallholders selling crafts, plants, photography, gourmet food, body products, clothing, recycled timber products and jewellery, handmade chocolates there is an abundance of variety to choose from.  When combined with the entertainment on offer, you are guaranteed a great family day out!   (please note there will be additional markets on the 3 April, 5 June & 2 Oct)

This is a popular market located harbour side near the bridge and has the added advantage of being sited from the main street in Tuncurry. This is totally open air with use of the under cover Podium for entertainment.  Many of the stall holders come from the local 'North Coast Region' and sell a diverse range of products, from handmade wooden toys to handmade organic skincare. A good variety of clothing, lots of plants, plenty to suit all tastes.   Also available at the market is face painting and the famous Coastal Patrol BBQ.  Market runs from 8.00am - 2.00pm.  (please note the December Market will be held on the 18th)

Nabiac is a quaint and quiet town just off the Pacific Highway, nestled in the hinterland 15 minutes from Forster. This market is held in one of the most picturesque showgrounds in the state.  Be early for the best pick of the locally grown and produced goodies such as organic vegies, free range eggs, local fruits, chocolates, gingerbread, honey, olives and olive oil, plants, chooks, quail, wine tasting, local crafts, BBQ and an all round social event.  Bring a friend and enjoy an old-fashioned shopping experience. The use of reusable bags and baskets are encouraged. Market runs from 8.00am til 12noon. (please note there will be no December Market)

This is a market with definite atmosphere, you can wander through colourful stalls and peruse the collection of local handmade jewellery, timber carvings, body products, hemp clothing, eco & fair trade products, there's even a Tibetan stall where you can purchase Tibetan prayer flags, affirmation scrolls or a metal singing bowl....  The Palms Market is famous for its great organic foods and coffee. Sample the delicious banana pancakes, whilst sipping on an expresso on the shaded deck overlooking the stalls.  With pony rides and a jumping castle for the kids!  Market runs from 9.00am - 1.00pm (please note there will be no market in March & April's markets will be held on the Sat 4th & Sat 25)

Mondays, Wednesdays & Saturdays at 1:15pm and Tuesdays & Thursdays at 9am every week.  Cost $4 members & $6 guests. With dinner & bridge from 5:30pm on the 1st Friday of every month. Cost $10 members, $12 guests.

No visit to Forster/Tuncurry is complete without seeing this fabulous Centre.  Forster Arts & Crafts Centre hosts changing monthly exhibitions as well as displaying a large range of art,crafts, ceramics, woodwork and pottery for sale from its members.  There are also classes in many art forms. Come and join Willy Worm's adventure at the Farmers Market Little St, Forster.  starting at 9am.  Collect your adventure sheet at the Kids Network tent then start your Willy Worm's adventure by helping Willy Worm find the tokens in his healthy food adventure.  The first 50 kids to complete the adventure will win a prize bag.

A Dutch Auction will be held at the Golden Ponds Community Hall in aid of Camp Quality with a variety of items from which to choose. A silent auction will be conducted on the day with the major prize being a signed Cronulla Sharks 2008 Team Jumper (valued at $700). Dianne Lindsay daughter of Reg Lindsay and Heather McKean will be hosting the third 'Family Heritage County Music Show' at the Nabiac Showground Hall, back where it all began for her family so many years ago. The show will be condcted in a fine old style with a light supper provided at interval, time for the audience to meet  and speak with the entertainers with tickets prices at $15.00.  There will also be a Lucky door prize, raffles and a few suprises on the night.

Come & watch all the spectacular action at the annual Bulahdelah Hillclimb. The annual Tea Gardens Public School Art Expo will go ahead this year over the Easter break.  Other Attractions over the weekend include a wonderful cake stall run by the Red Cross on Easter Saturday and a children's Craft Centre open all weekend.  Raffle tickets on sale for $1each, the prize being a wonderful painting by local artist Pauline Syron. General admission to the Art Expo is only $2 per person with children under 12 free.  The Expo is open 9am to 4pm daily.

This annual art exhibition and sale showcases over 400 artworks from local and visiting artists and includes Pastel Workshops.  Tickets are available for the opening night from Tea Gardens Public School. Welcome to the 11th Annual Rock to Rock Ocean Swim.  Enjoy a 1.5km swim at one of the most beautiful beaches you will ever visit, one of the famed "North Coast - north-facing-beaches" which means it is sheltered from the vicissitudes of the nasty weather. Come along to Forster's Annual Duck Race on Easter Sunday in Breckenridge Channel, off Memorial Drive Forster behind Westpac. Commencing with 'The Celebrity Duck Race' for local businesses and followed shortly afterwards by the main 'Easter Duck Race' aimed at the individual or family, in particular children.  Monies raised will support a range of local Rotary Youth programs & a yet-to-be nominated local not-for-profit organisation. Watch your duck race to the finishing line along with 1000 other yellow plastic ducks!

A gathering of youth for Youth Week is coming to your library in Forster on Friday 9th April. Live bands, live performances, open mic, all local artists. Stroud commemorates two nation builders, Sir Edward Parry and Phillip Parker King, with self guided tours of St John's Church (1833) in Cowper Street, Stroud. A tour leaflet tells how these heroes of naval exploration became resolute leaders of the Australian Agricultural Company. Parry built St. John's for Stroud, the village created by AAco in 1826 as it pioneered corporate agriculture in Australia. Wheelchair access. Skaters and BMX riders will battle it out again at this annual King of the Krater event.  With seven categories including, for the first time, Open Scooters this is one competition not to miss! The competition will kick off at 10.30am with registrations taken from 8am - 10am.

This swim of a ripper and is fast becoming known as one of the late season classics.  Swimmers will traverse the length of One Mile Beach from Cape Hawke Surf Club before rounding Bennett's Head, swimming past the Tanks and Pebbly Beach to finish on Forster Main Beach approximately 3.8km later.  There is also a shorter 1km swim from Pebbly Beach to Main Beach on offer for those who do not wish to take on the main event. Spectators can view the swim along the coastal walkways  - well worth the walk as it offers great views of the swimmers & the coastline.  Start times -  8:30am & 10:30am  »  download entry form

Enjoy a scenic 5km run starting on Forster Main Beach, up Second Head and along Pebbly Beach parkland to Frewin's Walk. Return the same way, back along the beach, past the Surf Club and over Pilot Hill, past the Coastal Patrol to the breakwall. Return along Reserve Rd, under the bridge and along Memorial Drive to the finish at Gloria Jean's.  There's a race category for every age & ability! Heaps of prizes, but race limited to 100 competitiors. Registration from 3pm at Main Beach, Forster.  Race starts at 4pm.

 

Come and play (or just spectate) at the annual Myall Classic Golf Championships at Hawks Nest Golf Club.  Hawks Nest is a championship rated 18 hole course with an ACR of 71 and is probably the finest wet weather course in the Newcastle district.  Set in a beautiful tranquil natural bushland, the club offers modern clubhouse facilties and always a warm welcome! Relay for Life is a fun, outdoor and overnight fundraising event where teams of 10 to 15 people take turns to walk around a local oval. The event honours those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Celebrate life and create hope by joining your friends, family, cancer survivors and their carers in the common goal of defeating cancer.

This is your chance to see the big names of the future representing their local area in the Northern Zone of the Country Rugby League Junior Championships. 10 groups from the northern part of NSW will take part in both the Under 15 & 16 age groups. The Championships are a competition of the best of Country Rugby League in the age groups and many players go on to represent the CRL in higher levels and may even go on to careers with NRL teams.  »  read more

This annual exhibition and sale of art works is held each June long weekend at the Pacific Palms Community Centre. This year will be the 18th exhibition and has become a well known and visited event. Works are received from the local and wider community of artists with total prize money of $5000 this year.  The Palms Markets will also be running over the weekend so a good day out is guarenteed! Exhibition will be open to the public on: Saturday & Sunday 9am - 4pm.

Over $5000 in cash & prizes are up for grabs at this prestigious tournament. Sponsored by the Bellevue Hotel Motel and sanctioned by Tennis NSW. Events range from Open Mens & Ladies Singles, Open Ladies & Mens Doubles, Special Mens & Ladies Singles & Doubles, B & C Grade & Junior Events. Come along and view all types of early model transport at the annual Midcoast Ford Motorfest.  The event has no entry fee and is open to all forms of road transport. Trophies are on offer. The event is managed by the Great Lakes Historic Automobile Club. From 9am to 12.30pm

Conducted for NSW country based players only, this annual event has a long and memorable history and has great tradition in the tennis world.  The mens open singles having been won in past years by many Australian representatives including Davis Cup Players like Jason Stoltenberg and Mark Edmonson. The Event includes The Medibank Country Junior Championships to be played during the week Mon 5 - 9 July.  With the Mens & Womens Open Championships held over the weekend of 2 - 4 July.

This years annual book fair promises to be better than ever.  Well over 30,000 along with hundreds more records, tapes, CDs, DVDs, magazines and other item are expected.  Any books donated by the public can be left in collection boxes located at the following venues:  Commonwealth Bank, Wharf St & Stockland Centre, NRMA Stockland; Fairway Butchery, Forsetr, Tuncurry Craft Shop, Manning St., Great Lakes Tyrepower, Tuncurry; No Bull Gourmet Meats, Forster Keys Sat & Sun 9am - 4pm and Mon 9am - 12 noon.

July 17 marks the 50th annual festival held between the four townships of STROUD in Canada, UK, USA and Australia. This annual event is held on the third Saturday each year in each of the countries, and results compiled on an international basis following the event.  Here in Stroud the day commences at 11am with a procession through the main street to the showground where the day's activities will take place. A program of events such as wood chopping, tug-o-war, market stalls, professional foot races and other novelty events then takes place throughout the day.  A truly unique & thrououghly entertaining day out!

Noble Realty will be hosting this very special Xmas in July fundraising event  in aid of Ronald McDonald Family Retreat.  Come along and support this worthy cause while having a great night out with friends. Tickets are $55 each and are available from Noble Realty.

This tennis tournament is open to all players 35 years and over. Events staged are singles, mens and ladies doubles and mixed doubles. Entry forms are available from Forster Tennis Club with closing date being Wed 21 July.

The annual Nabiac Motorcycle Swap Meet will be held in the grounds of the National Motorcycle Museum, 33 Clarkson St, Nabiac.  This is strictly a motorcycle paraphernalia swap meet only.  no bric-a-brac, furniture or clothing. Bookings are essential and starts at 6am

The Small Footprint Initiative is a community run event to encourage a positive local spirit, directed towards raising awareness of a healthy, active, socially and ecologically responsible lifestyle in our area. The proposed format for the initiative includes a "slow food" organic wine dinner and entertainment on Friday evening with Saturday's events centring on sustainable home tours, demonstrations and workshops (Pacific Palms). Sunday will include a much wider variety of information and education stalls, workshops and discussions. There will also be a strong push towards fun & educational children's activities. 'The Blessing of the Fleet' originated in Molfetta, Italy and came to Tuncurry 45 years ago.  Following a 9am special mass at Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Tuncurry, the Italian community leads a colourful procession through the streets of Tuncurry to the waterfront carrying a statue of Madonna Dei Martiri, patroness of fishermen. There, a decorated trawler escorts the Madonna and Father Kevin Corrigan to the waiting fleet in the channel.  This spectacular procession is a must see on the long weekend.

The Wildcat Regatta has achieved legendary status as the most popular and "must do" regatta amongst catamaran sailors along Australia's east coast. No other regatta draws as many competitors to the one event. Now in its 20th year, this all female learn-to-surf program actively encourages non-surfers and beginners of all ages to experience the waves with customised introductory learn to surf lessons. It is the world's leading all-girl surf program and runs at over 60 registered Surf Schools right around the Australian Coastline. Entry fee is $40 for a Learn to Surf Lesson; Board and Wetsuit Hire and a Showbag including Rip Curl Singlet.

Events February 2011

The Battle of the Boats is one of the largest surf boat Carnivals in NSW and has given Pacific Palms its largest annual event. The Battle of the Boats commenced in 1998 as a carnival for boaties. That first year 63 crews competed. In 2000 it won the Country Event of the Year. Last year a record 180 crews competed.  Don't miss this chance to view this spectacularly colourful event held at one of the most picturesque places on the coast. A catch and release bass fishing competition held at senior and junior levels. Heaps of camping along the river edge, prizes and refreshments available. All proceeds raised go to the fingerling fund. The Bass Bash Ball held on Friday night is a must for any fisherman who enjoys music and entertainment.
