Barramundi Sportsfishing and Top End Adventure get out for a break before the wet starts... Dick Perry's association with the Northern Territory's Fishing tourism dates back to the early 1980's. As part of a successful fishing tackle business (est.1976) and a marine dealership in Sydney, Dick developed PERRYS BARRAMUNDI FISHING SAFARIS'.

Perry's organized and conducted Coach Fishing Safaris to the Gulf, Northern Territory and Kimberleys to fish for barramundi and held one of the first commercial tour-operators license to fish for Barramundi in World Heritage Area, Kakadu N.T.

As a result of this long attachment to the NT and fishing tourism, "PERRY'S ON THE DALY P/L" was established. The opportunity to purchase 1000 acres right on the banks of the Daly River in 1993, was too good to miss as Dick and Carol had formed a love of the area and the "Mighty Daly River".

All sites have access to free gas bbqs. The park is surrounded by farmland, national parks and state forrest. It has birds, Kangaroos and Emus visiting. There is a tavern close by, post office and internet access. Old school buildings that house a library with photo display of the times gone by and a small museum. Take a stroll through the forrest on already laid out tracks or plan your own long or short walks through the forrest to see wildflowers in spring. Catch a marron in the lake on our door step, a perch or a trout to put on the barbie. Canoe in the lake or paddle down the local rivers. Only an hour or so from the tree top walk, Quinninup also boasts some historical sites such as old house dating from the late 1800s and an old church built by local families. It served as a school, and a community centre for the pioneer familys, some who still live in the area. There is a Cork Tree (to make bottle corks) and a Bunya Pine with very large nuts, used by the indidgenous people as a food source.

Welcome to the Tarra Valley Caravan Park "Fernholme". Situated on the picturesque Tarra River, approximately two and a half hours from Melbourne. You will feel so refreshed and relaxed at "Fernholme"...just the sound of the birds, the babbling of the Tarra River and the wonderful rain forest environment will soothe you. You will see and hear the elusive lyrebird and if you are very lucky might see a platypus or a koala. The river has trout, blackfish and fresh water crays. Oasis in the bush, closest to the action barra fishing. Woolianna is an Oasis in the bush set in amongst a mango plantation on the Daly River. It is located 230 km SSW of Darwin, Northern Territory on the bank of the Daly River, near Browns Creek, 15 km by river downstream of the Daly River Crossing. This is as far down the Daly as road access will allow, which means there is less distance to travel to some of the best barramundi hot spots in the Northern Territory.

The "Fishermans Lodge" has two self contained units with joint washing machine facilities. All linen and towels supplied.

Unit 1 is upstairs and has two bedrooms. It is private, quiet and very, very comfortable. A double bed in one bedroom, two singles in the other are made up with linen and towels are provided. The lounge room has comfy seating for four people and satelite TV. The kitchen has a large fridge and gas stove. It overlooks its own tropical garden and the pool. Sitting on the verandah with own BBQ, youd swear you were living in the tree tops.

Unit 2 is on the ground floor of the Fishermans Lodge. It can accommodate up to 6 people. It has three bedrooms, one with double bed and air-conditioning, and 2 with 2 single beds. The lounge seating can be transformed into two double beds. All linen is provided. Each room has its own fan. With its own Dining Room and satelite TV, Bathroom, fully equipped kitchen with Fridge and Gas Stove, it also overlooks a tropical garden with palm trees and grassy areas.

The Northern Territory's Oldest Pub! In1862 John Mcdouall Stuart successfully crossed the continent from south to north. After breaking through the Lancewood scrub that thwarted his previous attempts Stuart discovered fresh water. This area was given the name Daly Waters in honour of the then governor of South Australia Sir Dominic Daly.

Fresh water was vital for droving and Daly Waters was the last watering hole before the perilous Murranji Stock Route. When the Durak brothers drove their entire herd from Queensland to the West Australian coast, Daly Waters was a landmark stop. The cattle were rested and the men quenched their thirst, today that traditions still stands although caravans and backpackers have replaced the drovers and cattle.

The telegraph line followed Stuart's route north, the untamed environment caused the project to fall behind schedule which resulted in the Pony Express being used between Daly Waters and Tennant Creek 400kms south of Daly Waters. An original telegraph pole dating back to approx 1878 was found out bush in 2009 and is now erected outside the pub.

Despite common belief Daly Waters was never built on the highway. Bill Pearce, a local tin miner,and his wife Hennrietta, in 1930, built a store to service travellers, settlers and drovers and later air passengers en route to London.

The Pub was given a jug license in 1938. Prior to the 2nd World War, Daly Waters was the site for the first International Airport in Australia and refuelled planes and passengers en route to London. The trip cost 275 pounds and took 8 days. The Pearces played mine hosts feeding and providing overnight accommodation for the travellers. Bill was also responsible for refuelling the planes. These days The Daly Waters aerodrome is in semi-retirement with private aircraft and Air-Med (remote area medical service) constituting the bulk of the traffic.

During World War 2 Daly Waters played a significant part in the protection of the Northern Australian coastline. The Australian and American air forces were based here along with Mitchell Bombers, Kitty Hawks and a fighter squadron.

Today, the pub is still a welcome destination for travellers. The pub is renown for it's service, hospitality, great food and cold,cold beer. Memorabilia adorns the walls from Irish football jerseys to bras. Wherever you look there is something interesting to read or ponder its origin....
